Educational Theatre Foundation’s Theatre Alive! Virtual Gala to Honor Acclaimed Director Kenny Leon and The Shubert Organization

Inspiring program featuring film, theatre, and television professionals ― alongside current high school students ― will livestream January 28 at 5:30 p.m. PST/8:30 p.m. EST

Join us for the live-streamed virtual gala Theatre Alive!: A Celebration of School Theatre January 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The free, star-studded event is open to all and will raise money for the Thespian Relief Fund, providing assistance to theatre programs in need.

Co-chaired by Broadway and television producer Robert Greenblatt and film and television producer Neil Meron, Theatre Alive! will be livestreamed on, Broadway on Demand, and iHeartRadio Broadway.

The gala will honor the 2020 inductees into the EdTA Hall of Fame, which recognizes teachers who have dedicated more than 20 years to the cause of theatre education: Tim Buchheit of Washington, Missouri, Michael Daehn of Muncie, Indiana, Marti Fowler of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Billy Houck of Carmichael, California.

Theatre Alive! will be a special night of celebrating what we love about school theatre, featuring:

  • Live emcees and film and television stars Nia Vardalos and John Stamos
  • Performances and presentations by Tina Fey, Wayne Brady, Audra McDonald, Amber Riley, Jennifer Hudson, and Samuel L. Jackson, along with current high school students
  • Presentation of the Craig Zadan Theatre for Life Award to Tony-winning director, producer, and actor Kenny Leon
  • Presentation of the annual Standing Ovation Award to Robert E. Wankel of The Shubert Organization
